Services

Boarding

Our loving and skilled caregivers are ready and waiting to give your pet the TLC he or she deserves during a stay at our full service facility. You will have peace of mind while you are away, knowing our staff will make sure that your pet is safe and well. In our climate-controlled facility, we offer more spacious pens for larger breed dogs or pairs of dogs or a variety of spacious kennels for smaller and medium sized dogs and cats. We have been actively boarding animals for over 50 years and offer well qualified staff to care for our geriatric patients as well as patients on medications or patients who have more specific needs during their stay.

If any medical problems arise during your pet's stay with us, such as loose stool, our kennel technicians will notify the doctor on staff. Should the problem persist, our doctor may examine the pet at the cost of a comprehensive exam. If the doctor feels that treatment is necessary, every effort will be made to reach you at the telephone numbers you leave with us at the time of your boarding intake. If we are unable to reach you in a reasonable amount of time, the pet will be treated and normal fees will be charged. It is very important that you leave a contact number where we reach you while you are away.

Due to the popularity of our boarding services, we recommend that you make reservations in advance, especially around the holidays. Please don't hesitate to contact us at (304)645-3550 with your questions or concerns or to make reservations. You may also book through our PetDesk app.

Dental

Dental health is a very important part of your pet's overall health, and dental problems can cause, or be caused by, other health problems. Your pet's teeth and gums are checked during their annual exam, in order to check for early signs of a problem. Have your pet checked sooner if you observe any of the following problems-bad breath, broken or loose teeth, reduced appetite or refusal to eat, or swelling in the areas surrounding the mouth. Dogs and cats over the age of three are 70-80% more likely to suffer from some form of dental disease. Untreated, periodontal disease can cause severe problems and pain for your pet. The most effective way to protect your pet from dental disease is to have their teeth professionally cleaned. Please call us at (304)645-3550 today to schedule your pet's dental cleaning.

Exams

While our doctors love a good mystery to figure out, it is better to keep your pet from getting sick in the first place. We want to examine your healthy pet and talk to you about what testing and vaccinations are most appropriate for your pet's lifestyle and the region in which we live. This exam will give us a baseline for your pet's unique body. Your pet also has the opportunity to become more familiar with our facility and staff, which makes future visits easier on both owner and patient.

Grooming

Is your pet looking shaggy or unkempt? As a part of the family, you want your dog or cat to look and feel fresh and clean. Good grooming not only makes your cat or dog look good, but also feel good. There are health benefits from having their nails kept trimmed and coats clean as well.

Our caring and experienced pet groomer will pamper your pet with attention throughout their stay. With over 15 years experience in grooming and a lifetime of experience handling animals, she is very knowledgeable in performing breed specific cuts. The pride she takes in her work shows in every clean and beautiful pet that leaves our hospital.

Our pet grooming services are very popular, so please call to schedule an appointment today at (304)645-3550.

Lyme Disease Awareness

Lyme disease is on the rise in our area, and we have had over 50 dogs in the past year test positive for Lyme disease. We currently use a blood test that can detect four tick borne diseases, including Lyme disease. The test is 94 % accurate and extremely reliable.

We presently have available an annual vaccine for the prevention of Lyme disease in dogs and it can be combined with your dogs other annual vaccinations. It is 92% effective in protecting your dog form the bacteria that causes Lyme disease.

We have many products available to prevent ticks from transmitting the bacteria through blood transfer to your dog. Please discuss these products with any member of our knowledgeable staff to find the product that is best for your pet.

Micro-chipping

It's a scary experience when you have a lost dog or cat. Micro-chipping is a safe, affordable way to help bring them home. With pet microchips, any animal shelter or veterinary hospital can identify your pet with a simple scan. Your information will become available to them and they will contact you as soon as possible to reunite you with your beloved family member.

A microchip is no bigger than a grain of rice, but can give you enormous peace of mind. Call us today at (304)645-3550 to schedule this quick procedure.

Pharmacy

Fairlea Animal Hospital offers an array of both prescription and over the counter products to keep your pet healthy and happy. Our in-house pharmacy is stocked with prescription medications to provide preventative care or to treat illnesses.

These medications come from trusted, reputable suppliers and are stored properly under optimal conditions, insuring that they meet our high standards of quality.

Surgery

Fairlea Animal Hospital offers comprehensive veterinary surgery services for dogs and cats. All of our veterinarians are general surgeons, performing soft tissue surgery and minor orthopedic procedures.

We realize that surgery can be stressful on your pet. We want to assure you that your pet is in good hands, and that we will do everything to provide the best care possible. During both surgery and recovery, your pet’s vital signs will be closely monitored by our trained veterinary technicians with the help of tools such as electrocardiogram (ECG) and pulse oximetry.

It is our goal to make sure the entire process goes smoothly, and to help eliminate the stress and worry of surgical procedures. We also use our infrared K-Laser on your pet’s surgical incision to help ensure a smooth recovery as well. The physiological effects of this laser treatment include reduced inflammation and pain as well as enhanced tissue healing and circulation.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us today.
